A Message from the Principal
Dear Friends of Marsh,
As we near the end of another busy year, we pause to give thanks for the many blessings that have sustained Marsh Memorial Homes in 2025. It has been a year filled with growth, learning, and joy for our children — and one marked by the steadfast generosity and care of those who continue to believe in our mission.
Whether through donations, volunteering, prayers, or encouragement, your support makes a tangible difference in the lives of the children entrusted to our care. Every outing enjoyed, every improvement to our facilities, every special moment of discovery and celebration is possible because of you.
As you read this edition, I hope you will share in our joy at what has been achieved together, and find encouragement in the stories of progress, partnership, and hope that define the heart of Marsh.
What Have the Marsh Children Been Up To?
Career Exposure Programme.
During the third term, our Intermediate and Senior children participated in a Career Exposure Programme. Guest presenters representing a variety of occupations and fields of study shared their knowledge and personal experiences, inspiring our children to dream big, set goals, and work hard at school.
Among the careers explored were Engineering, Marine Biology, Hospitality, Cosmetology, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Psychology, Law Enforcement, Public Service, and Law. These sessions gave our young people valuable insight into the possibilities that lie ahead and encouraged them to think about their future aspirations.

Heritage Day
On 24 September 2025, our children celebrated Heritage Day with a joyful braai and cultural programme facilitated by the South African Sendinggestig Museum. The day was filled with fun, games, and learning about the diverse cultural heritage of our region — a wonderful reminder of the richness of our shared South African identity.
October school holidays
During the October school holidays, the Junior Houses enjoyed a train trip to Wynberg, where they attended an interactive programme at the Wynberg Library. The Senior Houses had a memorable outing to Old Mac Daddy Farm, where they took part in water sports and enjoyed a delicious lunch at the restaurant.
Our Intermediate Houses were warmly hosted by the Muslim Students’ Association at Stellenbosch University’s Tygerberg Campus. The event was a highlight of the term — filled with games, pizza, and generous goodie bags prepared for each child.

Marsh Market Day
Finally, during the Marsh Market on 1 November 2025, our children enjoyed an outing to Green Point Park. After returning home, they joined in the festivities at the Market, where the funfair rides, ice cream, and treats were a hit with all!
