About Us

About Us

Marsh Memorial Homes nurtures children and transforms lives, by providing short term care for children who have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment.  Our programmes strive to rehabilitate and re unite children with their families or communities of origin, having developed in them the skill necessary for them to develop into confident productive and responsible adults.

This work of transformation begins with Marsh Memorial Homes providing a safe, stable and loving environment for the children in our care. The environment coupled with an intentional life skills programme, along with multi-disciplinary therapeutic support and counselling aims to assist children to find healing, rebuild their self-respect and confidence thus ensuring that when they leave our care they are equipped to achieve their dreams.

All children in our care come to us via the children’s court system, the majority have families. Ultimately our goal is to see all the children happily reunited with their rehabilitated families. In order to achieve this we work in partnership with the Department of Social Development and a number of Welfare organisations who focus on assisting the families in their local communities and are committed to reuniting families if at all possible.

Mission Statement

Marsh Memorial Homes acknowledges the remarkable heritage of the current estate, and the vision of childcare undergirded by Christian values, which lay behind it.

We see ourselves as a community, focused on the residential care of vulnerable children. We foster among all who are part of this community, a recognition that every person is created in the image of God and has infinite value. We seek to cultivate respect, affirmation and nurture for all.

We maintain beautiful, safe and functional buildings and grounds, which reflect the goodness of God’s creation and the responsibility of all people to care for God’s world.

Through intentional interactions that are Christ-centred, empathetic and empowering, we provide every child among us with the experience of wholesome and transforming relationships.

Our well designed, innovative programmes offer children holistic healing, transformation, and development which are intended to lead to spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical growth, equipping them to become functional and community-orientated adults.

We ensure that children receive the best possible care through the implementation of creative evidence-based programmes designed by a leadership who are well informed, current and growing in their professional practice. We actively seek ways to train, equip and develop people for their vocation in child and youth care. We make opportunities available for staff to mature in the knowledge, skills and inner resources needed to work together in providing the transformative nurture which vulnerable children need and in cultivating the God-given natural potential within each child.
